FAMFISK – Fostering Agricultural Machinery & Food Technology in Senegal & Kenya

FAMFISK – Fostering Agricultural Machinery & Food Technology in Senegal & Kenya

In the coming years, MRF is planning to set up a further 300 Maschinenringe in Senegal and additional Maschinenringe in Kenya, whereby expertise and trained local staff will be an essential success factor. HSWT, MRF and bbw are endeavouring to implement the joint project "FAMFISK - Fostering Agricultural Machinery & Food Technology in Senegal & Kenya" in order to promote stronger links between vocational training and higher education in Senegal and Kenya and to support the expansion of Maschinenringe in Senegal and Kenya. The aim of the project is to support Senegalese and Kenyan universities by particular to support the development and expansion of Maschinenringe. The cooperation between the three applicants is intended to pool the existing expertise of Bavarian stakeholders in Senegal and Kenya and generate synergy effects. The FAMFISK project is funded by the Bavarian State Chancellery.
The project contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals
defined by the United Nations

Partners of the FAMFISK project
The three institutions (HSWT, MRF, bbw) have already received funding from the Bavarian state government to implement projects in the areas of agricultural value chains, food security and employability of young people in Senegal. As part of these project activities, there was a particular need for stronger links between vocational and academic education and for practice- and needs-orientated higher education. All applicants also have extensive experience and partner networks in Senegal and Kenya.

Weihenstephan University of Applied Sciences Triesdorf (HSWT) is coordinating the project. Throughout the project, HSWT will organise several student tandem projects with partners in Senegal. In addition, the HSWT will be responsible for coordinating the summer and winter schools, especially in exchange with the existing networks with the partner universities USSEIN and JOOUST. The HSWT will organise a visit to the partner universities in the second year of the project.

The Bildungswerk der Bayerischen Wirtschaft (bbw) will develop and implement the planned training programmes on site in Senegal and Kenya (summer and winter school as well as partial qualification programmes).

The Maschinenring Foundation (MRF) was responsible for the kick-off event for the project as part of the "Tag der Maschinenringe". MRF coordinates the training courses in dialogue with the regional Maschinenringe and the project partners. MRF is also responsible for public relations work throughout the project.
